Hoping to one day experience the history of this place in the summer.Old Orchard is great there's so much to do down in that area you can rent motorbikes you can eat just about any different place you would like the beach is beautiful and you should get there early cuz it can get crowded there's a fee to use the restrooms there is one by the amusement park that is free down by the bumper cars just a FYI great stores I like to see a lot to do what I enjoy most is riding the wave and lodging on the beach you can never get bored down there great place for kids older people younger people the atmosphere is just amazingOverall just weird vibes.
What a despicable practice and that is the last time I take my kids to this despicable town. Either way the beach is a beautiful place and a must if you are visiting Maine.When planning our trip to Maine one of the things at the top of my list to see was the Old Orchard Beach Pier. I came here in mid October which is clearly not the traditional time to come here due to the cooler weather, but it was really nice just being one of a few people at the beach.

I have done many beach clean ups and easily spot tiny pieces of plastic etc but you don't need to have any experience to spot the bigger pieces of garbage. Well I paid the stupid ticket only to receive another collection notice months later. The one drawback is that on most hot summer days the beach can be a bit crowded and my advice to avoid the large crowds is to visit after 4pm. There is very little parking in the town anyway, and what is there is very expensive. Beach, shops, food vendors, restaurants, arcade, amusement park with rides, games & A BOARDWALK!!! Lots of entertainment on Memorial Day. I have been coming to OOB for years and this was my least favorite trip. These summer months it has best very swimable! If you want a good experience but not as many people super close to you on the beach go a bit away from the The kids just swam in collected crab legs and shells and jumped on Thursday afternoon and spent an hour or two in the arcade. Thank you and please practice social distancing but remember that you are not alone in this-we are all in it together and we will get through it. There are also hotels, motels, camper grounds, air bnbs & inns (direct access lodging can be pretty pricey though). We even collected some sand to add to our collection.Felt like we met all of Portlanders here for 4th of July weekend lol.Let's start with the Pier. Fun for everyone! Everyone from Quebec to Massachusetts comes to the Old Orchard Beach (or OOB) during the summer time. I generally avoid the center of town and head directly to the beach to the left of the pier if you are facing it. I was able to collect some pretty solid seashells and brought my cat (yes, my cat) out for a stroll. Parking around old orchard is a scam everywhere. Bustling with locals and vacationers. We are the local food pantry and clothes closet serving all of Old Orchard Beach. I have never heard of such a thing. Old Orchard Beach is a town and census-designated place (CDP) in York County, Maine, United States. Parking is always a big issue and as a resident of OOB I can purchase a parking pass from the town hall for $50 which allows me to park in the two municipal parking lots. It drops right near the beach. Since OOB is connected to an amusement park, a not so great pier and bars, you get a variety of a crowd.
Lots of candy and beach shops.Fun fun fun!!! Nothing is open and its just a creepy morose feeling. The beach can be a bit chilli depending on the time of the year. Have at it!! What's really outrageous is that small parts of the beach are sectioned off to protect endangered shore birds and I literally saw a man one morning come by to reinforce the "fencing" yet continued past big pieces of trash and plastic-right next to a trash receptacle.
Great place to spend a full day. I'm a beach girl at heart so seeing this historic pier was something I thought about in the 6 months leading up to our trip, however I failed to take into consideration that in October it would be closed. When we got there, most of the restaurants and shops were closed!
BUT the open space and many attractions/area activities makes the crowds a non-issue. The Seagrass Inn though is using untrained "day-labor" during the pandemic...We made a side-trip here because the place was hyped-up by reviews. The beach itself is OK. Too crowded for my taste. It is part of the Portland−South Portland−Biddeford, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area.
