Write a review . Excess Flesh – Movie Review. From the opening, where roommate Jennifer awkwardly tries to compliment friend and roommate Jill ("You're not fat"), to the soulful kiss they openly share at the end, the evolution of these two reluctant partners' relationship as they fall inexorably into each others' arms is a heartwarming tale you'll remember at least though dinner. New to the city and recently single, Jill is unable to keep up as she binges and purges to stay thin; eventually hating herself and everyone around her.

With Bethany Orr, Mary Loveless, Wes McGee, Sheresade Poblet. Was this review helpful? by T.A. Could have been cool. The film has some fucked up moments and some great atmosphere. Excess Flesh is the state of the world through the lens of its empathic, embittered interpreter, Director, Patrick Kennelly. Shades of pearl, pink, and blue dominate while slow motion close ups provide visceral contrast to the Barbie Dream House world in which Jennifer seems to thrive but which threatens to choke Jill to death. Lovecraft Country: Season 1 Excess Flesh is about two roommates - one a mildly overweight woman with no self confidence and the other a beautiful and promiscuous woman, who feed off each other. It’s part psychological and part horror, and all too hard to watch because it’s representative of the body image issues we’re dealt with today. Fans of Houellebecq's work and the Irvine Welsh novel Sex Lives of Siamese Twins might enjoy Excess Flesh, which is not really a horror film. Was this review helpful? Even if you weren’t aware of that before seeing Jill (Bethany Orr) and Jennifer (Mary Loveless) are roommates but they could be sisters or fraternal twins: Jennifer’s natural auburn hair is a shade less vibrant than Jill’s obviously color-treated locks, but they’re both pale and freckled with blue eyes. It's a shame because it could've been a really good psychological thriller. Whether Jill’s shoveling Pop-Tarts down her throat or slow-motion chewing something else, it’s awkward and upsetting. 3.2 out of 5. It has a rather predictable twist and hits the emotions oddly with various traumas explored through extremes. Her jealousy and rage spiral out of control --Jill (Bethany Orr) is obsessed with her new roommate Jennifer (Mary Loveless), a promiscuous and sexy hotshot in the LA Fashion scene. If she can’t be like Jennifer, Jill will make her feel exactly how she does until they’re one in the same. The best part of the movie is Orr’s all-out, unhinged performance. The 2 lead actresses were good.

Highly impactful and interesting, but also horrifying. This intimate look at the burgeoning relationship between two formerly platonic female friends is as much a warm love letter to the city of Los Angeles, seen through the lens of its delightful culinary traditions, as it is a tale is of finding love right where you least expect it — at home, in the kitchen... and the bedroom. I have a pretty bad case of misophonia in regard to people eating. 38 customer ratings. Unfortunately they are very well hidden and can actually not be found. Was this review helpful? And that's because the movie indulges in hammering its point home. But five months aft The Last of Us Part II Either way, you get 2 similar looking actresses, a slender model and a plump mess, playing the lead rolls. I was reminded of this quote by Michel Housellebecq - "Sexuality is a system of social hierarchy" while watching Excess Flesh. 9 out of 18 found this helpful.

With some of the scenes I felt like I could smell from the filth. Patrick Kennelly’s debut feature Jill (Bethany Orr) has one of the worst roommate situations you can possibly imagine.
